About Us
Edusource.org was founded in March 2010 by Christopher Turner, a high school science teacher for over ten years. Chris’s vision was always to help every k-12 students in the public school, as he was a product of Baltimore City’s Public School System. This vision had quickly evolved into helping educators and teachers connect with resources to empower K-12 institutions, bringing respect and priority back to Education, as well as becoming one of America’s leaders in k-12 reform. When asked why he wanted to form this company, he responded:
"I’ve always had a vision of compiling educational resources to help millions of people, specifically teachers and students, find the tools needed for success. As a teacher myself, I have experienced the hardships from the lack of resources that exist to be an effective teacher. Unfortunately, there is way too much money wasted by counties and states with new initiatives, across the nation, that are here today and gone tomorrow. The resources and money should be allocated for the classrooms where the difference is made between the teacher and the students. Whether it’s for equipment, a field trip, or perhaps a guest lecture, these things tend to inspire different students at different levels. It’s only a matter of time in today’s economical climate that budget balancing will make its way into the schools. I’m already hearing in the news that budgets will be cut, teachers will face re-negotiations or face possible furloughs or worse, termination, schools are being closed and kids displaced and I fear the worse is yet to come. We want all of our young people to attend colleges, but, they are almost out of the affordable price range for our students and parents. I’m not a political guy or someone of unlimited wealth, but I knew there was something I could do to help millions of students beyond my own classroom. My life’s mission now is to help provide any and all resources and opportunities I can for the young people of this country and the hard working men and women trying to make a difference in their lives."
Edusource.org was founded to help educators find resources, money, tools, and employment opportunities within in America’s K-12 school setting. We are trying to bring the focus back to education through extensive databases to assist with lesson planning, K-12 employment opportunities, discounts for educators, teaching strategies, and much more.
Our next focus is to assist every school in this country with finding the funding necessary to help improve education. We have partnered with Eduscholar, a nonprofit organization, to discover new ways to use today’s technology to raise funds for each and every school.
We are always looking for new ideas and new businesses to assist us in our endeavors. If you are interested in donating money to Eduscholar or you would like to sign your business up to donate a portion of sales to the schools, or provide discounted services to educators, or any other ideas, please contact us and know that your help is highly valued and appreciated.
Education is the foundation that makes a country strong. We all need to take ownership of tomorrow’s future and return education to the forefront of America’s priority. I became a teacher because I was inspired by them and hopefully I inspire some myself. Here at Edusource.org, we hope to fuel the inspiration with our easy-to-use forum for education.
